Movie | Searching For Sugar Man | PAss
Very good, but a tad slow, documentary searching for information of a real life, enigmatic 1970s musician. Well worth watching!

TV | Bates Motel | PAss
The show rests squarely on Farmiga and Highmore's shoulders and they are great. The timeline seems a bit out of sorts - it's modern day, but there is plenty of 50s/early 60s style. That seems a bit odd, but we got used to it.
If they keep it from getting too nasty and disturbing (a la American Horror Story), then we're in. If not, we're out!

Movie | Wreck-It Ralph | PAss
Very cute and clever. There is one scary scene that might unnerve really young viewers. Lots of adult references and a good story.

Movie | Rust and Bone | PAss
A truly gorgeous French drama about a street fighter and a woman who trains Orca whales at a sea park. Even though it was rather long, I'm really glad I saw this.
Movie | This Must Be The Place | PASSPASS
Spectacular and you're not going to like it.
After literally years of waiting for this to be released, I had huge expectations. I was far from disappointed and this is one of the best films I've seen all year.
Penn seems to be channeling a mumbling, high-pitched Robert Smith/Steve Stevens, a character that shambles through every scene, zombie-like. The story is as seemingly lost as this burnt-out, depressed and bored rock star, but it all comes together in the end.
This is most definitely an un-Hollywood movie, which will upset a lot of peoples' sensibilities. It's fresh, inventive, troubling and unpredictable. There are questions that might or might not be answered by the conclusion.
I loved every minute of the nearly two hours. As I watched it, I kept thinking of one of my favorite movies, Being There. If you adored that movie as much as I did, you'll love this. Otherwise, you most likely will not.

Movie | Easy Rider | Pass
I've seen about 85% of this movie about a million times, but never seen the end. I finally sat down and watched the entire thing from start to end. What a dreadfully depressing ending. And the dialogue is as stilted as ever. Still, somehow, it's a classic of the times.
Movie | The Intouchables | PASSPASS
A simply stunning story of friendship that transcends station and social structures. Brilliant!
A very wealthy man struggles daily with his complete paralysis. When it comes to hire a caretaker, he takes a risk on a young man from the streets. Will it come to a gruesome end or is this fellow actually an angel in disguise...?
The storyline is familiar, one you've seen before and one that always seems to be a spectacular platform for spectacular actors. This is the case once again.
I laughed out loud and I cried like a baby. See it, see it, see it! Have you seen it yet?

Thanks for the recommendation, JC!
This is a German post-apocalyptic film somewhat similar to The Road. Though it doesn't have the emotional gut punch of that movie, it's still quite good. Actually, I enjoyed it even more. I really liked that the gore was done by suggestion.
I can't imagine anybody wouldn't watch this in the original language (with English subtitles for me), but the second or two that I turned the dub on, it seemed pretty good.
The poster is horribly misleading. Emmerich did not direct this. Instead, it's from first time director (and writer - he's also done a couple of shorts, that I haven't seen) Tim Fehlbaum, who does a great job. I'm looking forward to his next project.
A must see for genre fans.

TV | Upright Citizen's Brigade | Pass
As a rerun (well, on DVD - thanks DubS!), not as funny as I remember it. Still, very creative and it is interesting to see where these actors started and reflect on where they are today.
TV | Red Widow | Pass
No, it isn't great. But it's as a good a thriller as plenty of other shows. So, why are the critics panning it so badly? I don't know. I still think it worth a looksee.
TV | Moone Boy | PAss
Utterly delightful show about a little boy who has an imaginary friend, played by the always enjoyable Chris O'Dowd, who also is creator. Great to see Vegas again - missed him!
Movie | Robot & Frank | Pass
I was waiting for this to come out on DVD for a long time and I must admit, when I finally saw it I was a bit disappointed. Expertly done (Langella is truly spectacular), a very interesting plot (certainly more original than Argo), but just too slow to be great. Definitely worth a rental, but not the best movie of 2012 (The Pirates! Band of Misfits still wins that title for me).

TV | Delocated | Pass
The premise of this comedy follows a moron in the witness protection service. But, I haven't watched much so I'm going to try more episodes.
TV | Nathan For You | Pass
Comedy spoof of "reality" shows that attempt to help small businesses. In this case, the attempts are purposefully poor. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Worth a few chuckles.

TV | World of Jenks | Pass
Never saw season one. This season concentrates on just three people. I liked it because these are good people trying to do good things, something very rare in "reality television". Who knows if it's real or not (some elements don't feel real), but it's interesting and worth a watch if you liked shows like Catfish.
TV | Zero Hour | Pass
But who cares. They put in the dreaded dead zone time slot that they victimized Last Resort with and then they....cancelled it... and didn't even finish it. Surprise!
Jerkys.
Jerkys.
TV | Golden Boy | Pass
Interesting premise that could be really good if they let it develop out. The execs probably won't give it a chance.
TV | Translogic | Pass
Good show for us gearheads. Unfortunately, another example of a highly unappealing host who was hired to front a car show. That's the magic behind Top Gear - why don't the TV execs get that?

TV | Black Dynamite | Pass
This is the clever and well done (adult) animated show based on the movie. Watch it if it at all appeals to you - you won't be disappointed.
Movie | Cockneys vs Zombies | PAss
It was a long wait, but it finally arrived. And...I really enjoyed it! It's a good edition to the zom-com
sub-genre. Maybe not as classic as 'Shaun of the Dead', but still worth a
watch. There were many scenes that made me chuckle. I liked the
production values and the soundtrack was also quite good.
