Well done but not what I'd call entertaining.

If your idea of watching an elderly couple verbally rip each other to shreds is fun, then this is your show. It's not for us. And it quickly loses its humor.

Movie | The Night Walker | Pass

Still not finished with our William Castle marathon. Despite some slow spots, this was fun. Super cool soundtrack, wish I could get a copy.

TV | True Detective | PASs

Spectacular acting, super creepy crime drama. I only caught the pilot during a free HBO weekend, but I can't wait for it to come out on DVD so that I can see the rest. Reminded me of The Killing...very, very dark.

TV | Drifters | Pass

Not great, but entertaining enough with several chuckles. They need to develop the characters a bit more. Hopefully, the will.

Movie | Mr. Sardonicus | Pass

The final film in our William Castle marathon. This one is in black and white and has a Lovecraft/Marquis de Sade feel to it. It was good, but we liked Strait-Jacket better. I stole Castle's gimmick (audience votes the direction of the film) for one of my movies!

Movie | 13 Frightened Girls | Fail

Another William Castle flick...and maybe my least favorite? Just too slow and the young woman that starred was rather irritating. Basically it's a Gidget Becomes A Spy premise, which is just too cutesy. I think a lot of folks might actually like this, though.

Movie | 20 Feet from Stardom | PASS

Absolutely marvelous and a must see! Spectacular. Can't say enough good things about it. Check out the trailer:

TV | Rake | Fail

Didn't see the original Australian show, but this is yet another show about a character who is brilliant but simultaneously a complete loser. We just felt sorry for him and didn't want to see more. Bummer, famed director Sam Raimi is involved and it's got a great cast.

TV | The Goldbergs | Fail

Despite some humorous 80s references and fun Philly shoutouts, the dialogue is basically a string of one liners and the delivery is all shouting. The cast is quite good, but somebody forgot to make us (the audience) care about them.

Movie | Blubberella | FAIL

Terrible with a capital "t". Uwe Boll is known for cranking out stinkers, but I thought this might be campy enough to be fun. It wasn't.

Movie | Strait-Jacket | PAss

Continuing on the William Castle-athon, this one had three things going for it; Joan Crawford, an appearance by George Kennedy and the writer was Robert Bloch. Interesting spelling of the title. Funny comparing the violence in this to today's bloodfest films. The axe murders are shocking, but there isn't a drop of blood - anywhere, which is hilarious and completely unrealistic. Not that I'd know from personal experience, mind you. Eww. Well worth viewing!

This one goes to eleven! And that's about it.

Movie | How To Make Money Selling Drugs | PASS

I thought this was really interesting. Well worth my time and an examination into a fascinating world that I don't have anything to do with, nor ever do. It's good to see another angle other than what's presented in the media and in entertainment.

TV | Helix | Pass

From the network that brought us Sharknado and wrestling aimed at a pre-teen demographic...

So, what did I think of it? I think it's a good show. Somebody who hasn't seen this premise much would find it very suspenseful and interesting. I kept thinking that it's a less violent, less interesting Resident Evil. That's not really a problem. But what is a problem is that I felt like I was really slogging through. I guess it just didn't really grab me. I'll probably give it another try.

More fun from William Castle, this time played for pure comedy. The cast really brought back memories.

Movie | Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer | PASs

Pretty amazing really, if you think about it. The fact that they captured everything they did on film is incredible, much less the content of this documentary that captures an important moment in Russian history involving the punk band/political and feminist movement Pussy Riot. This is true punk, not the garbage that most folks call punk. If you're an adult and you worry about whats going on in the world outside the walls of your house, you owe it to yourself to watch this movie. There are some rather shocking moments and the interesting thing is that what and how Pussy Riot went about getting tossed into Russian prison is definitely arguable. Is what they did right? Was it the only thing they could do to really make a statement? Or are they just a bunch of nut jobs that will go to any lengths to promote their message? Again, this is what real punk is all about...

Movie | Jack the Giant Slayer | Pass

It was okay, no giant shakes. Yuck yuck. The ending redeemed the entire thing. We enjoyed Nicholas Hoult in Warm Bodies far more. This was kind of a stupid role for him.

Movie | Branded | Pass

More interesting than entertaining. Don't let that movie poster fool you. This is not really science fiction. Funny, it's about manipulative marketing, which is just what the poster does...make you think this is going to be an action-packed thriller. It's not. Instead, it's slow, thoughtful and has more to do with relationships than anything else. I'd recommend this to anyone who is looking for something quite different.

A much more serious Chuck, without the comedy. But the same basic premise with the exception of the main character is fully aware, a willing participant and a soldier. The pilot was okay, but too predictable. It wasn't terribly exciting, either. The cast is good, if a bit wooden and robotic. Hopefully, it will get better and there will be a back story that develops. There is one concerning the main guy's wife, but it isn't interesting.

Not nearly as good as I remember it. The only redeeming qualities are the 70s/80s ambiance, another take on the bad guys in a high-rise theme and the soundtrack that would put anybody on edge. Otherwise, you've got an extremely violent film filled with bad acting and a terrible script that often doesn't make sense.

A night time soap, featuring a bunch of the cast from Gavin & Stacey. Not all that funny, but the characters are interesting. Sadly, series 2 and 3 are not available in this country and series 4 was never released at all. That's too bad because it's interesting enough that we wanted to see what happened to them.

Movie | Comic-con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope | Pass

Only slightly painful to watch. I'm not a Kevin Smith fan, but he's absolutely hilarious in this.

Movie | Pathfinder (1986) | Pass

I hadn't seen this in a long time and it came up again the other day. It's quite good, just as I remember it but it starts out with a dog and a little girl being murdered. Yeah, that's some cheerful stuff. I actually liked the remake a lot.

Movie | Father's Day | FAIL

Horrible. It worries me that people find films like this entertaining.
