Movie | Gantz | PASS
Extremely entertaining, a bit gory (not too, too bad). If I had to describe it, I'd say it's a bit like Men In Black, that isn't entirely accurate. Close enough. The movie (which is manga and anime-based) was like a really interesting dream and I can't wait to see the sequel.

Movie | Ender's Game | PASS
Simply amazing in every way, though the premise of child suicide soldiers is heartbreaking. I met Orson Scott Card once, but can't remember the encounter for the life of me.

Movie | Veronica Mars | Pass
Fun to see the old crew back together, though I honestly forgot who's who. For fans of the show only - nobody else will get it (or like it).

Movie | Suburbia | PAss
Not to be confused with the Penelope Spheeris film, this is actually rather similar (disenchanted youth) and features a monster cast. It's basically a very angry, punk Dazed and Confused (not surprisingly).

Movie | Upside Down | PAss
I really enjoyed this visually fantastic, mind-bending scifi romance, but I think some people would find the plot too simplistic and shmaltzy. Not me, I loved it.

TV | Those That Kill | PAss
Fabulous cast and plenty of suspense and intrigue. Well worth watching if you like shows like The Killing and yet another European remake (Danish this time). Interestingly, the ratings on the first two episodes were apparently so low that the show got cancelled with the intention of bringing it back at a later date to show the remaining 8, which have already been made. I hope they do, because this is a good show (albeit violent and disturbing).

Movie | High Strung | Fail
It was fun to see something else Oedekerk's done besides Kung Pow and the very young cast that's full of recognizable faces. But watching a guy complaining at the top of his lungs at the camera for an hour and a half is not my idea of entertainment. Thanks for the recommendation Jeff, better luck next time!

Movie | 1991: The Year Punk Broke | Pass
The "interviews" are just folks goofing off, so we don't get to know them as people. So, this mainly consists of concert footage and never answers the why of the title.

Movie | Oldboy | PASs
Remake of the original Korean film. So, how was it? Are the critics who say it's no good right? Absolutely not. This is a fantastic (albeit violent and gruesome at times) top notch thriller. I don't think it helps to see the original as you know what to expect, though Spike Lee and crew did a great job shuffling some details and plot twists. I think both films are equally superb, though the first gets the nod simply because it was the original and slightly more epic. But this is somehow more accessible in comparison, so there you go. Pick your poison. If you haven't seen that one and you'd rather not read subtitles, then go for this version!

Movie | From Paris With Love | Pass
Better than we thought it would be. Plenty action packed and a rather engaging story. Another Luc Besson (who produced and wrote the original story) classic.

Movie | Deceptive Practice | PASS
Absolutely marvelous. I particularly enjoyed the segment (and bonus material) with Steve Martin. If you're looking for an entertaining documentary about a highly interesting individual that has nothing to do with politics or anything gruesome, this is it!
TV | Believe | PAss
The pilot was exciting and highly entertaining.
Update: We lost interest and stopped watching. While the premise is good enough, the episodes are too repetitive and predictable.

TV | Resurrection | Pass-ish
Despite what the creators have stated multiple times, this is a total ripoff of Les Revenants. The problem is this version mimics all of the negative (painfully slow, thinly developed characters) and none of the positive (great soundtrack, fantastic surroundings, marvelous acting, genuinely creepy and unpredictable script) things about the original. We stopped watching this after the first season because we just didn't care what happened, in the story or to the characters.

TV | Save Our Business | Pass
Starring one of the guys from the great show Dragon's Den, I wish there was more actual business information in the show. This is, unfortunately, more of the reality show sameness.

TV | Rods N' Wheels | Pass
If you're the kind of gearhead that the title appeals to (like me, for example), then this is a show for you!

TV | Jonathan Creek: The Clue of the Savant's Thumb | Pass
If you've never check out the Jonathan Creek series starring Alan Davies and you like the modern versions of Sherlock Holmes, you should. The episodes are a little cut and dry, wrapping up too neatly, but Davies is always fun to watch. And Sheridan Smith is great, also. It's still all a bit of lightweight fun with a slightly funky edge.
TV | The Red Road | Fail
Maybe I'm getting a little tired of this sort of show (dark dramas), but it's starting to feel too familiar. Still good, though. It will be interesting to see if they can do something that will set it apart from the rest.
Update: it wasn't. I got bored and jumped ship.
