Movie | Nosferatu | Really Liked It
I was thrilled to finally share this classic film with my better half, who liked it more than I thought she would, on the perfect night of the year.

Movie | The Brain That Wouldn't Die | Liked It-ish
The script wasn't half bad and there was real horror there; I certainly wouldn't want some quack messing with me against my will.

Movie | The Beast with Five Fingers | Liked It
You have to hand it to a reluctant and recalcitrant director that ends up making a movie that's a cut above the rest. Everything about this film was quite well done...plus, Peter Lorre!

Movie | Dracula (1931) | Really Liked It
Brilliant...a classic..."I bid you...welcome..." This was a version with a newer, non-original soundtrack that I really liked. It was apparently from the French DVD release (!?!) and it worked extremely well. I'd forgotten famed director Tod Browning had made this. Hmm...that gives me an idea; Browning-athon on the horizon!
Movie | Tai Chi Zero | Liked It-ish
At least it acknowledges its own kung-goofiness, mixing in graphic novel graphics, the steampunk sub-genre and clever subtitles that break the fourth wall. But, in the end, it's just another boring wuxia, of which there are too many and better.

Movie | Children of the Damned | Liked It
This sequel spins the kid characters to be less alien but the theme stays the same. Another interesting thing about this film is that it takes the premise but doesn't acknowledge the original in any way.
Movie | Village of the Damned | Liked It
If you don't understand something (or someone, in this case) you
should just kill it, or so this movie seems to be saying. Of course,
it's really stating the opposite. Humans really are a scourge in so many
ways, especially towards each other.
Movie | Going Clear | Liked It
My other half got up and wandered off because she thought it was boring but I thought it was interesting. Regarding the content of the film itself...frightening. If you found this interesting, I'd highly recommend Jesus Camp.

TV | Utopia (Series 2) | Really Liked It
Still hyper-violent, still utterly brilliant, just like the first series. It's too bad that people are such schmucks because there's a whole group of adult viewers that would be blown away by this. Word is this is the end of the line for the show and that the US remake with Fincher is also a bust. That's good because then we're left with a cult classic that can't be messed with.

Movie | X the Unknown | Liked It
Another good Hammer film. This one wasn't exactly what I was expecting; pretty dated, a bit slow but still a lot of fun.
Movie | Coffin Rock | Didn't Like It
Wanted to see this because Robert Taylor from Longmire was in it. It's a fairly well done film but the plot was too familiar and predictable. And then there was cruelty to animals and I was a outta there. Too bad.
Movie | The Double Life of Veronique | Didn't Like It
This film is well known for its exquisite cinematography. It was good but that's all I found the least bit interesting about this tremendously boring movie. Too bad, just not my cup of tea I guess.
TV | Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise | Liked It-ish
Each subsequent installment in this series seems worse than the last one and Parker's dialogue pattern just gets more and more irritating. They definitely need to dial that back and they have to make Stone a bit more likable. As it is, he's a dud and the dialogue is no better. And who is a "dog person" but can't figure out how to pat a puppy's head?!?!

TV | The Real World of Peter Gabriel | Liked It
Interesting documentary capturing a portion and time of Peter Gabriel's life. Don't think for a moment the man is done.
Movie | Noah | Liked It
It's unfair of me to keep expecting another Pi out of Aronofsky. Judged on its own, this wasn't a great movie but I still watched it and rather enjoyed the entire thing. What's wrong with it is too numerous to detail but if you can just relax and go with it, you might like it too.

TV | Billy On The Street | Didn't Like It
Is there a premise here? I suppose it's an exploration of how to push New Yorkers' buttons but that's about it.
Movie | Border Radio | Liked It
Neat little gem and a must see if the names on the cast list ring any bells with you. I can't believe I missed this but I've fixed that faux pas after all these years.
Movie | It Came From Outer Space | Liked It
The Professor is possessed by an alien! How much fun was this to see in the original 3-D? I'll bet it was fantastic.

TV | Hand of God | Liked It-ish
Great cast that includes several faces from Sons of Anarchy. The backstory is fairly interesting but unfortunately the characters are not. It reminds me of several other extremely well done shows where the characters are not very compelling. If you notice things like that like I do, then this may not be the show for you.
Movie | The House of Seven Corpses | Liked It-ish
This 70s horror film deserves more credit than it gets. It's not terrifically well done but the movie within a movie premise works pretty well and it's genuinely spooky in certain ways; messing with the supernatural is never a good idea. Besides, John Carradine is in it.

TV | Rick and Morty (Season 2) | Really Liked It
The first seven episodes were mind boggling fantastic, way more than anything else in the genre. Episodes 8 and 9 were merely excellent, with the season finale back to genre exceeding status. That's how bloody good this show is. Still got it, still brilliant, still a must see.
TV | The Strain (Season 2) | Really Liked It
Continued to amaze me; this is some of the greatest horror on television, ever. Really sharp and extremely well done. Gory, too.

Movie | Ghost Story | Liked It
Can you make an 80s supernatural horror movie with some nudity based on a book by Peter Straub...starring Fred Astaire, John Houseman, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., as well as other notable cast not usually associated with the genre? Yep, turns out you can; here you go.

TV | Adam Ruins Everything | Liked It
Very clever and well done. I can't think of a better way to present this sort of material, the true background to everyday things.
