Movie | Deep Space | Didn't Like It
The only thing good about this was that Ron Glass was in it. The movie and cast weren't bad, but it just didn't capture my interest.

Movie | The Voices | Liked It
Very good. Reynolds is one of the very few actors that got dangerously close to being over-exposed, backed off and then returned in notably excellent style. The man can act and he's absolutely excellent in this quirky, bloody, enjoyable, but slightly less than ambitious film. That last tiny negative comment should not stop you from seeing this if you have any interest.

Movie | 1990: The Bronx Warriors | Liked It-ish
Extreme cheese...a ripoff of Escape From New York and The Warriors with the freak turned up to 11. For example, instead of the Baseball Furies in Kiss makeup, we get tap dancing gangbangers in gold lamé. What the...? Unfortunately, there are too many scenes without action in them and the lead looked like he might have scoliosis, while wearing the most impossible leather vest/high-waisted jeans imaginable.

TV | Person of Interest (Season 5) | Really Liked It
The final season for this very good television thriller. This season reached a feverish, dreamlike state several times to very good effect. A superb ending to an excellent series.

TV | Animal Kingdom | Really Liked It
I don't recall being the biggest fan of the movie, but I find it perfect that they reset it in SoCal. Is a show that focuses on the lives of criminals all that interesting? It can be, like SOA, Kingdom and similar tough guy shows. And so it is for AK, mainly due to Elen Barkin and the outstanding cast, in my opinion.
TV | The Jim Gaffigan Show (Season 2) | Didn't Like It
I didn't connect with this show this season, whatsoever. It's still a well done show and everybody in it is just great. But it wasn't fun and it wasn't funny - to me. I feel bad about not liking this season of the show, but that's just how it is. I have the feeling it will go on without me.

Movie | Message From Space | Liked It-ish
Really bad but it was interesting how much Star Wars ripped it off...or was it the other way around? Who knows. Even the music was similar to William's score. Weird. Can't say that I really enjoyed this, but it was fascinating. Plus, how many Japanese movies did Vic Morrow do? Sonny Chiba was great, as usual.
TV | Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule (Season 4) | Liked It-ish
At least it's a bit clever, still, since the last time I checked it out (har!). The spoofing of public television continues to be fun. But this isn't a show that should have made it for four seasons.

Movie | Life After Beth | Really Liked It
Cute zomedy. Definitely worth watching. The pre-Desert Eagle hiking with a stove scene was laugh out loud funny.

TV | Major Crimes (Season 5) | Liked It
No...more...Rusty!!!! Good god, please get rid of that character. The actor is so much better than his role and the writers purposefully make him so irritating that you want bad things to happen to him. Nearly ruins the show. Thankfully, the rest of it is quite good.
TV | Talking Preacher | Liked It
Thank goodness for this series of discussion/behind the scenes/trivia shows with Chris Hardwick. I've got absolutely nobody to constructively talk to about the show they're (the Talking shows) discussing. Obviously, I can't have discourse with a television show, but at least the Talking shows have something constructive to say, unlike the people who talk at me and could absolutely, positively care less what I think or have to say on the matter. On top of that, they don't really watch much, have very little to actually say and do not want to hear about any other show. Such...fun.

TV | Top Gear (Series 23) | Liked It-ish
First the good; Harris isn't terrible. His enthusiasm is contagious, even if he's a rich guy with rich toys that has nothing to do with the real world. He owns a McLaren 675LT, fer gawdsakes. But that's been my main complaint about this show for how many years...?
Now the bad; LeBlanc doesn't belong anywhere near this show. He just doesn't fit. He wouldn't even fit in the US Top Gear. The rest of the cast is okay; probably not enough Schmitz, tho. But worse than the cast is the show itself. It's the same old, super highly produced airy piece of flotsam that it's been for far too long. The stunts are boring, the challenges stupid and the overall premise smacks once again of, "Let's take advantage of our budget and drive a bunch of ridiculous cars around in silly fashion to absolutely no point but not try to be creative in any way because we only know how to beat a dead horse!" The 90 minute format is faaaaaarrrrr too long; it should have been 60 at most. They just can't keep things interesting enough for that long with snappy cinematography and what used to be good music. Somehow, they lost that plot line, too.
I don't miss the original three. That's not a factor for me. Well, with maybe the possible exception of The Hamster. But the other two...nope.
I'm sticking with my original statement; they should have killed this show and replaced it with a different concept entirely. It's tired, it's done and smells like a rotting corpse...terrible.
And yet...there are still cars involved, so I'll probably continue to watch it, skipping the copious boring spots. Most of it, actually.
Sigh.

TV | Ride with Norman Reedus | Liked It
It was a little too "Look at my rich boy toys!" for me. I don't see how they could have avoided that, given the premise of the show. But I still enjoyed it.

Movie | Moon Zero Two | Liked It-ish
Twistern, but pretty boring. Most of the film was like watching paint dry. Interesting that it's a Hammer production and supposedly the only one (of what, 200-300 movies?) set in the future. Thanks for the recommendation, KayDub!

Movie | The Retaliator | Didn't Like It
Terrible. A very weak Terminator-esque flop. The only thing that was neat was Ginty's car, which was probably a mildly customized Jensen Healey. AKA Programmed to Kill.

Movie | Troll 3 | Liked It-ish (not really, but still...)
Wait. What? There's a Troll 3?!? Yep. Sorta. Even though it might have originally been conceived as part of that "franchise", this film (once again!) has nothing to do with either of the first two movies, though there is some small, short recycling of some of the music from Troll 2.
This time around, there are mutant plant-vine-things that are out to get us all.
Terrible everything and not nearly as enjoyable as the second film. There are no standout actors or lines like "Nilbog!" in this one.
AKA The Crawlers and alternatively Contamination.7.

Movie | Spellcaster | Liked It-ish
Another Charles Band joint...remember Richard Blade?!? OMG, I do. And yes, that is Adam Ant on the poster...!
TV | Lady Dynamite | Didn't Like It
I really wanted to like this, but it just didn't click with me. Maybe I'll try it again at a later date.
Movie | Cut Bank | Liked It
Watch as Liam Hemsworth phones his performance in and all of the other actors attempt to show him how its done, unsuccessfully. Still, this was a good thriller. It was no Cold in July, though.
Movie | CQ | Liked It-ish
When I see Jeremy Davies, I think of Justified. So it was nice to see him acting in another setting and a completely different character. This movie sort of meanders along and never really seems all that interested in going anywhere. But if I never see another movie with Jason Schwartzman in it again, I'll be just fine with that.

Movie | Alien Predator | Liked It-ish
Bad movie, but it was fun to watch Dennis Christopher and Lynn-Holly Johnson in action. Plus, there was a neat Iveco motorhome and a primo VW dune buggy. AKA The Falling.
