TV | The Blacklist | PAss
The pilot was excellent and so was the second episode. This is the James Spader dog and pony show - a good thing in our eyes (we're fans), but if you don't like him you won't like it. It remains to be seen if the momentum can continue. I hope so!

Movie | Clash of the Titans (2010) | Pass
Maybe I was just in a good mood, but I rather enjoyed this. Reminded me of 300, frankly. More than the original, which I've only seen a half dozen times.

Movie | Snow White and the Huntsman | PAss
This reminded me of Legend, which was also panned by critics and moviegoers...and which I also greatly enjoyed.

Movie | The Perfect Host | PASs
Worthy of Hitchcock, but gruesome. Just too real, mainly because of the spectacular acting. I learned to use the fast forward button and enjoyed this greatly. Stick with it; it's all worth it in the end!

Movie | Life of Pi | PAss
Visually stunning, well done (even the animation) and interesting. The only thing bad is that there are several times where it is quite slow and there are some really upsetting animal scenes. Most definitely not appropriate for younger children.

Movie | Oblivion | PASS
Absolutely gorgeous, in every way. Same director as the Tron reboot.
I think a lot of movie goers aren't going to get why this is such a great film though. Most likely because they're just there for the explosions. That's too bad; they're missing a beautiful movie that has a lot to say and pays homage to some great sci-fi classics.

TV | Strange Hill High | Pass-ish
Despite Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd, Man to Man with Dean Lerner, The Mighty Boosh, etc.) providing one of the voiceovers, this wasn't very engaging. I think it works better as a show for children without trying to speak to adults. That's fine, just not what I was expecting. Plus, puppets are so often dumb. They are mildly interesting here because they are manipulated with sticks and their mouths appear to be animated (well, I might add). But it's not enough to add up to an interesting show. Is this the end of Ayoade's brilliance? I find that hard to believe. He just needs to do his own projects.
