Okay, Chan-wook Park is my favorite new director, who also did the original (and superior)
Oldboy. That film is the second part of the "Vengeance" trilogy, this one was the first. Park is definitely one to watch. His films feel fresh, though they are mighty violent and always include something or other that will make you squirm in your chair. Both films did for me, that's for sure. Still, I'm looking forward to the third part of this trilogy.
