TV | Preacher | Really Liked It
Dominic Cooper can't do a Midwestern accent and some of the editing and direction is poor. But J Gilgun is always awesome! Too bad too many people don't know who he is. Maybe they will after this. He steals this show, as he usually does. Overall, this was a very good television Twistern.

TV | Maron (Season 4) | Really Liked It
Get Drew Lynch his own show pronto! And make it a good one, where he can really sink his teeth into it. Otherwise, this was the absolutely best season of Maron so far. Just brilliant, with loads of pathos.

Movie | Escape from the Bronx | Liked It
Why doesn't this get a better IMDB rating? It really wasn't half bad.
There's something so satisfying and comforting to see Mark "Mister Posture" Gregory return to his role as Trash. As pointed out on http://www.bronxwarriors.co.uk/, he'd lost a lot of his previous muscle mass for some reason since the previous flick, but that just made him look more like a real person to me. He was only 18 years old when they made both of these movies, which seems incredible.
This time around, though there are some small visual reminders of the original's fantastically quirky gangs, this direct sequel is far more realistic and straightforward. Unfortunately, the biker gang is gone, though Trash's ride is thankfully upgraded to a single far cooler bike, of which I was unable to determine the make and model. The skull headlight returns, but it appears to be hilariously off-center.
Casting the fantastic Henry Silva in place of Vic Morrow was a stroke of genius or luck or whatever; he's awesome!
Despite some noticeably inferior cinematography and the usage of the dreaded hand-held camera, this was well worth watching. The soundtrack was excellent.
This trilogy deserves a release on DVD. But in the meantime, onward to the third installment; Endgame!

Movie | Krampus | Liked It
Good addition to the holiday themed horror sub-genre! Maybe not quite the level of Rare Exports, but still a lot of fun and the cast includes the always stupendous Toni Collette and Allison Tolman.
Movie | Brick Mansions | Liked It
To complain about this being a remake seems like a really lame thing to do or say. It is what it is. The original, District B13, was better mainly because it was French and that made the rather overly simple plot more interesting. The cast in this film do nothing to elevate it (especially RZA) and that's the only real problem. It's still a fun popcorn action film.
TV | Stranger Things | REALLY LIKED IT
Tremendous, absolutely fantastic! 80s homage done right and that's the least of it. Just incredible, in every which way. I can't wait for Season Two!

Movie | Cop Car | Really Liked It
Bacon's performance is so quirky and it works so well in this. The first couple of minutes were a bit tortuous because it's just following along as the two young boys spew profanities as they walk. It went on too long and I ended up fast-forwarding through much of that part. That was a problem with the script, not the acting. Otherwise, this is a great little slow-burning thriller.

TV | Cleverman | Didn't Like It
I watched the entire first season, but it never really clicked with me. I kept waiting for it to get more interesting and there was no connection with any of the characters. Was I supposed to care? In the end, it just didn't work for me and I felt sad about that.
Movie | Minions | Really Liked It
Who knew this would turn out to be such a delightful franchise for both kids and adults? It truly is. This is yet another clever, cute, engaging and hilarious installment. What's next, I wonder?

Movie | Hellbenders | Liked It
Shoulda woulda coulda been better. Clancy Brown and JT Petty (who writes and directs again) team up again after they made The Burrowers together. That was a far better film, ahem, Twistern. There's nothing terrifically wrong with this comedy-horror, it just never seems to really get rockin', which it absolutely should have.

Movie | Wrong | Didn't Like It
Gotta hand it to Dupieux; he makes creative, far-reaching, extremely oddball films. Unfortunately, he's never seemed to be able to recapture that special something like he did in Rubber. I saw Wrong Cops, made after this film, before I saw this and it was even worse.
I get what he was shooting for, a "non-film", and have massive respect for the effort, but it this was another dud. Awful. I'm done with his movies.

Movie | Skin Trade | Didn't Like It
Cool cast, absolutely terrible movie. Things of note; Lundren has something seriously wrong with the joints in his lower extremities and can no longer run (it looks extremely painful and I feel for him), Jaa's English is coming along nicely, but his acting doesn't appear to be getting any better, Michael Jai White doesn't appear to have much to add other than flashing a stink eye occasionally and Ron Perlman will be in just about anything, it doesn't matter if it's good or not. Don't expect anything interesting out of the great Peter Weller here, either. This movie wasn't worth a rental, sadly. Even the martial arts and stunts were ho-hum.
