Why doesn't this get a better IMDB rating? It really wasn't half bad.
There's something so satisfying and comforting to see Mark "Mister Posture" Gregory return to his role as Trash. As pointed out on http://www.bronxwarriors.co.uk/, he'd lost a lot of his previous muscle mass for some reason since the previous flick, but that just made him look more like a real person to me. He was only 18 years old when they made both of these movies, which seems incredible.
This time around, though there are some small visual reminders of the original's fantastically quirky gangs, this direct sequel is far more realistic and straightforward. Unfortunately, the biker gang is gone, though Trash's ride is thankfully upgraded to a single far cooler bike, of which I was unable to determine the make and model. The skull headlight returns, but it appears to be hilariously off-center.
Casting the fantastic Henry Silva in place of Vic Morrow was a stroke of genius or luck or whatever; he's awesome!
Despite some noticeably inferior cinematography and the usage of the dreaded hand-held camera, this was well worth watching. The soundtrack was excellent.
This trilogy deserves a release on DVD. But in the meantime, onward to the third installment; Endgame!
