Movie | Welcome to Blood City | Liked It

This dark and relentlessly ominous Twistern is supposedly the first feature film to have virtual reality in it. I don't know if that's true, but the flick is reminiscent of Westworld, minus the robots. Jack Palance is spectacular as the psychotic sheriff of a town where there are distinct castes.

Although it's possible the copy I have is of a lesser quality, the film gauge used to make this film was of poor quality. The picture was blurry and the cropping extreme. Still, it was clear that this was made by a team that was used to shooting for television. In fact, while director Peter Sasdy is remembered for making several Hammer films, his primary bread and butter were television shows and it's abundantly clear with all of the tight closeups.

Roy Budd created an interesting soundtrack that features a really annoying and at the same time intriguing main tune that consists of Jaws-like horns and strings.

At the end of the day, this was well worth watching and though it's difficult to find, I highly recommend it to all Twistern fanatics.
