Movie | Big Money Hustlas | Pass-ish
Nowhere near as good as the far superior prequel, Big Money Rustlas. But that's to be expected, because the Insane Clown Posse's ability to act has actually increased over time, believe it or not. This movie is an homage/spoof/tribute to the exploitation movies of the 70s. Points for trying and there a moments. But, it's not what you'd call very good.

Movie | Seven Psychopaths | Pass
Creative, inventive, sometimes funny and shockingly violent movie about a guy writing a screenplay titled "Seven Psychopaths". An outstanding cast really makes the entire thing worth watching. Still, I was expecting more, somehow.

TV | The Americans | Fail
The pilot didn't work for us. There were too many things wrong and the big thing was that we didn't believe the premise (even if it was based on a real story, or not).

Movie | Argo | Pass
Well worth watching. Despite all of the hype, this is not a great movie. Very good, sure. But not "the best movie of the year". I'm not sure which movie I thought was the best of 2012, but this wasn't it. Still, definitely worth renting.

TV | Game of Thrones | Fail
What?!? Fail?!? Yep.
With all the hype, I was really looking forward to this "game-changer" cable television show. And that might be part of my problem. The expectations are so high that it has to blow me away to be any good. So, what were the major problems?
Firstly, I'm not that interested in medieval times. I was when I was 12 (that was long time ago!), but I guess I'm not anymore. So, there has to be some twist to the whole thing. There is here, in the horror elements, but there isn't enough of it to keep my interest.
They also ramped up the sex and violence. But, it's all pretty much gratuitous, so who cares.
The writing is atrocious. There are so many plot threads that character development suffers massively. Admittedly, I only watched the first couple of episodes, but I didn't care about or empathize with any character other than Sean Beans'. When they kill somebody you're supposed to really care about (usually accompanied by melodramatic music to indicate that you're to react at that point)...shouldn't you give two hoots? I didn't, whatsoever.
Maybe I'll try again some other time. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood. For now, let's just say it wasn't my cup of tea and leave it at that.

Movie | Looper | PAss
I enjoyed this a lot. There are certainly movies that have similar elements. But the way this was put together, it came across as fresh. From the same director as the excellent Brick (who also directed some episodes of Breaking Bad and Terriers), this is a must see.

Movie | Pitch Perfect | Pass
If you liked Bridesmaids and Glee (and throw in Best in Show while you're at it), then this one is for you. I actually laughed out loud several times and there are many quotable lines.

Movie | Warm Bodies | PAss
It's a feel good ZomRomCom! An entertaining one, too. While it certainly isn't the first zombie genre movie that's from the zombie perspective (Colin being an example that predates this film), it must be the best. At least, of the ones I've seen.
A lot of fun and well worth watching!

Movie | Arbitrage | Pass
Decent thriller about a rich guy who gets in over his head...can his money, power and influence save him?
We were hoping for a Brit Marling "marathon", but it wasn't. In fact she and Sarandon are unfairly underutilized.
Worth a rental if you're in the mood for such a movie.
