Interesting setting and that's about it. Nothing else is captivating, including unlikeable characters, a plot that purposefully goes nowhere, pacing by Ambien and acting that seems so intentionally "quirky" that it all ends up a bit creepy. There was clearly a lot of effort going on here, but what did I really expect from the director of
Pineapple Express,
The Sitter and
Your Highness (though he
did do the marvelous
Eastbound & Down, I wouldn't attribute the success of that solely on his work).
