Movie | A Dog's Breakfast | Really Liked It
Super fun low budget dark comedy featuring an excellent but minuscule cast by the guy that made Cube.

Movie | Spy | Liked It
Exactly what you think you'd get and featuring a great cast. Some over the top language and a surprising number of shots to the head in slo-mo but McCarthy is so great as the lead. The other funny thing about this is that it was so high-def that you could see the mountains of makeup on all of the actors and every imperfection in their faces. It was a bit distracting, I will admit. Somebody forgot their soft lens.

TV | Sense8 | REALLY Liked It
The Wachowskis keep reaching for something more and they were very successful this time, unlike Cloud Atlas, which blundered into the ridiculous and suffered some truly ham-handed acting by the mega-star cast. Unlike that oopsie, this is an amazing show full of great characters, a brilliant cast, fantastic music and an inspired production. It's an interesting platform to explore some LBGT issues, too, as if this was in collaboration with Armistead Maupin (I don't think it was, though). I wonder how much of that was the impetus for the show, initially? It occasionally feels heavy-handed but it's all with purpose. So be warned; this show has a lot of sexuality in it.
The cast is perfect and the great Tom Tywker is involved; directing and soundtrack!
Special and most definitely not for the casual viewer, who will be lost and mystified. I don't mean that as an insult but if your bar of criteria is set at Two and a Half Men, then you're not going to like this.
But this show is...epic.

Movie | The Ice Pirates | Liked It
Intentionally cheesy space opera starring Robert Ulrich, featuring Ron Perlman in his second movie role ever, a very young looking 30-something though painfully underutilized Anjelica Huston and one of John Carradine's final roles. Yeah...it couldn't really miss with me, now could it? But the soundtrack wasn't just dated, it was horrible. I've heard better music in elevators.

Movie | Big Hero 6 | Really Liked It
Very enjoyable, though predictable. Fun characters and a good script with some great action scenes.
But wait a minute...WHAT IN THE SAM HILL!?! Like some of the crappy manga these days, Attack on Titan for example, flops like 47 Ronin and the half-decent The Last Samurai, this movie co-ops every bit of the Japanese culture but seems ashamed to feature actual Japanese characters. The animation clearly avoids any visual reference to Japanese facial features, the eyes and nose in particular, and yet just about every tiny detail in the entire flick is Japanese. That's borderline racism, in my book and utterly bizarre. Still, a fun movie if you can get past that glaring negative.
Thanks for the loan, AS!

TV | The Whispers | Really Liked It
Very interesting, well done and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it plays out. I hope it stays as intense.

TV | Daredevil | Liked It
Well done and enjoyable but the scripts are not very original and nothing unexpected happens. Excellent if you never watch any outstanding action movies, merely good if you do. Great fight choreography but the acting occasionally falters. Again, that may be more of a problem with the writing than anything else.

Movie | Above & Beyond: Live at Madison Square Garden | Liked It
Unbelievably fantastic music from an album that I haven't stopped listening to since I got it. But there's nothing more stupid than watching DJs standing around on stage with nothing to do other than wave their arms and bounce.

Movie | Haunted Honeymoon | Liked It
Gilda Radner's last movie and the final film that Gene Wilder directed. Super fun...until the end, which fell apart. Bummer.

Movie | Fair Game | Didn't Like It
Ozploitation that wasn't really my thing; plenty of my rules broken. I did love the ambiance, though. That was cool.

Movie | Rockula | Liked It
How did I miss this cheesy, bewildering, dated, cult classic featuring Thomas Dolby, Toni Basil and Bo Diddley?!? The script was terrible (random music videos?!?) but who cares!
TV | Between | Liked It
Similar to shows like Under The Dome and Jericho, the twist here is that everyone in this quarantined town over the age of 22 is dead. Good example of how you can have flavor, even though the premise is beaten to death.

Movie | The Conqueror Worm | Didn't Like It
Aka Witchfinder General. It was terrible, I mean just bad in every which (witch?!?) way. Even though the always awesome Vincent Price was in it, even he couldn't save it and this movie should have been burned at the stake.

TV | Grace and Frankie | Really Liked It
It's all about the cast, Lily Tomlin in particular. The only thing that bugged me was that the pacing was odd, often stilted. But who cares when it's so much fun to watch these people at their craft.

Movie | Cypher | Really Liked It
I'm nearly positive that I've seen this before, especially given who directed it. But I didn't remember any of the details. Regardless, I really enjoyed seeing it again. Oops, turns out I did.

Movie | Tower Block | Really Liked It
There were lots of things I really liked about this simple thriller; a cool cast, the basic plot that was still interesting and the fact that the folks behind Cockneys vs Zombies made it. This film was not humorous in any way and I missed that but it was still good. Reminded me a bit of Cube and several other movies.

Movie | Natural Selection | Really Liked It
This story of a woman whose life is anything but fulfilling really clicked with me. Very well done and I enjoyed it greatly.
