Famed director Tod Browning and Bela Lugosi team up once again. This time, the straight-up horror film turns into a slow-paced thriller in the last 20 minutes. It didn't really work but it was fun enough if you can sit through the tedium of the first part of the movie (which is short anyway). There were plot twists that the studio forced the creative team to get rid of, including an unexplained bullet hole in Bela's character's head, much to the detriment of the final edit. That just gave away the ending but you're not going to see it anyway, so who cares.
